Bolanle Olukanni
Bolanle Olukanni is a dynamic TV and radio host, seasoned compère, and social impact advocate. She began her career in media as a co-host on the pan-African talk show Moments and later led The Juice, an acclaimed interview series on Ndani TV. Bolanle is the host and executive producer of The Scoop with Bolanle, a news commentary show offering sharp insights on social and political issues for a digital audience. The Scoop covers timely topics, on global cultural trends, with a fresh, relatable perspective. Bolanle’s engaging commentary and storytelling make the show a trusted source for impactful news, connecting with viewers through her authentic and insightful approach.
Recently, she hosted the Women’s Program on Channels TV during Women’s History Month and served as a commentator for ElectHer, a non-partisan organization supported by the European Union, during Nigeria’s 2023 election, covering women’s political participation. Her entry into the TV industry began when she was selected from over 400 applicants to co-host Moments with Mo alongside Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife TV.
Bolanle has interviewed a wide range of influential figures, including former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, supermodel Naomi Campbell, Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, Grammy award-winning singer Brandy, and Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya. She also co-hosted the documentary interview series With Mikel, offering exclusive insight into the life of Nigerian football star John Mikel Obi.
Beyond television, Bolanle is an experienced event compère and panel moderator, having led discussions at events such as the United Bank of Africa CEO Award and the UK AID/DFID Not for Sale launch at Social Media Week. She made history as the first African to host the International Advertising Association (IAA) Conference in Bucharest, Romania.
As an executive producer, Bolanle co-founded Bolinto Media Group, a multimedia production company, where she produces and hosts On the Carpet with Bolinto, a red carpet show covering high-profile African events. The show has partnered with major brands, including Coca-Cola, Uber, Heineken, and Martell.
Bolanle’s contributions to media have earned her multiple honors, including the On-Air Personality of the Year (Visual) award from The Future Awards and two nominations as Nigeria’s Most Popular Female Media Personality. Deeply committed to social impact and justice, she founded the God’s Wives Foundation, an NGO that supports skills training and empowerment programs for vulnerable women, especially widows and single mothers. Inspired by the resilience of these women, she created God’s Wives, a documentary that raised funds for the cause and earned a nomination for Best Documentary at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
Raised in Nigeria, Israel, and Kenya, Bolanle graduated with honors from Loyola University Chicago, earning dual degrees in Communications and International Studies. After graduation, she returned to Nigeria for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, where she launched Girls for the Future, a gender empowerment initiative for secondary school students, promoting girls’ rights and mentorship.
Today, Bolanle serves on the boards of Transformative Leadership and Sustainable Development Initiative, focused on youth, governance, and development. Bolanle’s global perspective, deep passion for media, and dedication to community impact continue to make her a powerful voice.
